A Therapist’s Journey to becoming an Affirming Christian Therapist

Throughout my personal journey I found my Christian faith and relationship with God to be a vital part of my healing. As life went on, friends and family members started sharing with me that they identify as a part of the LGBTQ+ community. It was so difficult for me to make sense of the experiences loved ones and clients I was working with were sharing with me of of being marginalized by the church.

This started my own deconstruction and reconstruction of my faith. Through a lot of curiosity, questions, and exploration, I eventually found so much freedom in the acceptance of the intersection of being a lover and follower of Jesus AND lover and ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

There is a special place in my heart for being able to integrate faith and spirituality while still providing ethical, professional, and affirming counseling with clients. I care deeply about providing a space where all parts of folks I work with are welcomed, accepted, and celebrated!
