Frequently Asked Questions

  • I do accept Aetna, however I'm considered out-of-network for all other insurances. Depending on your plan, your insurance may reimburse a portion of our sessions. I can provide you with a form called a superbill with everything your insurance needs to process an out-of-network claim.

That said, reimbursement is never guaranteed and benefits vary widely, so I recommend reaching out to your insurance directly to understand what your plan covers. During our free consultation call, we can also walk through an estimate of your out-of-network benefits together so you have a clearer picture before committing to anything.

A few things worth asking your insurance:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible, and has it been met?

    • What percentage is reimbursed after the deductible?

If you're looking for an in-network provider, directories like Psychology Today or Therapy Den can help.

  • Out-of-network benefits allow you to see a therapist who isn't directly contracted with your insurance company while still getting reimbursed for a portion of the session cost. Typically, you pay for sessions upfront and then submit a claim to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Many plans reimburse a percentage of the session fee after you meet your out-of-network deductible. I recommend verifying your OON benefits with your insurance, and this is something we also can do on our initial phone consultation

  • There are some unique circumstances I'm able to work with you to find a way to make therapy financially sustainable. I also reserve a few spots in my schedule for sliding scale fees.

  • In your first session, we'll take the time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you in for therapy. I'll listen to your concerns and together we will create goals you'd like to work toward. We'll also go over logistics, like the process of therapy and confidentiality so you feel comfortable and clear about the process.

  • How many therapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you'll need depends on your individual goals and needs. We’ll work together to create a personalized plan that fits your unique situation. Typically, people start with weekly or biweekly sessions, but we can adjust the frequency based on your schedule, finances, and what works best for you.

  • Perinatal refers to the period during pregnancy and up to a year after giving birth. It combines what’s often referred to as prenatal (during pregnancy) and postpartum (the first year after birth).

  • If you’re concerned that your partner, or any loved one may be experiencing symptoms of a postpartum mood disorder like depression or anxiety, it’s important to encourage them to reach out for support. If they’re unable or unwilling to seek help, you can contact the Postpartum Support International warm-line at 1-800-944-4773 or the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262 for immediate assistance. If you are in a crisis contact the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988. If you believe they are in danger of hurting themselves or others, please take them to the nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
