What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-supported therapy that helps the brain and body process experiences that haven’t fully settled.

In perinatal work, EMDR can gently support healing from:

  • Birth or medical trauma

  • Pregnancy-related fears or complications

  • Earlier life experiences that resurface during parenthood

This process does not require you to relive or retell every detail of what you’ve been through. Instead, EMDR helps your nervous system move toward a sense of safety, integration, and steadiness in the present.
